The August 18, 2001 meeting was held at Spear's Restaurant in Newton. The meeting was called to order at 9:14am by President Ron Farthing.

Present were Lee Buller, Lon Buller, Dave Duerksen, Ron Farthing, Xon Fesler, David Godshall, Kent & Dana Harder, Robin McDaniel, and Roger & Dr. J.J. Wilson.

The July minutes were read with no corrections.

Treasurer's Report: No change to balance of $960.09.

Antenna: Antenna has not been ordered yet; Robin will work with Lon to purchase one.

Repeater: Not responding from Hesston or Valley Center, only reaching the edges of Newton and Newton Factory Outlet Mall. Robin will look into it.

10M CW Contest: Congratulations to Lee Buller who placed first in Kansas for his division.

Salina HAMFEST: Tomorrow, Sunday August 19.

RACES: Not currently active. Ron tried to call the RACES net and didn't get much response, and Robin said it generally shuts down after July.

Repeater Battery: Some discussion about techniques to keep the battery working. Robin said we could look into controlling the battery switchover via the controller and touch tones.

Special Events: Weekend of September 8th & 9th in Riverton Kansas, 75th Anniversary of Route 66. Roger has made arrangements with owner of Eisler Brothers to set up a special events station on his front porch. Lee encouraged Roger to contact ARRL to get a 1x1 callsign for the event.

MS Bike Ride: Winfield, Kansas, to Ponca City, Oklahoma, and back by a different route, September 23-24, starting about 8am. HAM Radio operators help with support and emergency comunications.

NA QSO PArty: This afternoon on HF.
