Treasurer's Report: After $30 incoming from dues and $95 in expenses, we current have $538.37 in the checking account and $120 in petty cash.
Newsline: It is continuing to run. Kent asked them about their expenses and has not received a response, however it appears they got enough money in June to continue operations for awhile longer. If Kent gets more information about their financial situation, he will let the club know. The 82 repeater has also started airing Newsline.
Route 66 Special Event: Allen Heck of the Wichita Amateur Radio Club talked about some area hams and clubs planning to participate in a Route 66 special event station. Details are still being worked out.
Field Day: David gave a summary of the report that was submitted to the ARRL. The total score including bonus points was 4,140.
ARES: Allen Heck, Emergency Coordinator of Sedgwick and Harvey county ARES, came to talk about ARES. Ron Farthing is our official point of contact (Assistant EC). ARES nets are normally on the 82 repeater, however it is currently down due to power supply problems. The 82 repeater needs some tower work done, and funds are being raised to hire professional tower climbers to check and relocate the antenna. People interested in being in ARES should make sure they are registered and will get a membership card that might be needed to get into disaster area, plus a booklet with information, forms, membership lists and contact information, etc. Each Amateur should always have an emergency "ready kit" prepared that they can grab on a moments notice. The ARES registration form includes on the back a list of items to put in a ready kit. No formal training is required, though ARRL's emergency preparedness training courses are recommended, as well as free courses on FEMA's website, especially the ICS (Incident Command System) course. Memberships are normally 2 years, June©June. ARES Summer Picnic, location to be determined, August 14th, the day before the ARRL State Convention. Allen handed out ARES registration forms.
Meeting adjourned at 10:17am
