The July 16, 2005 meeting was held at the Old Food Court at the Newton Factory Outlet Mall. The meeting was called to order at 9:18am by President Kent Harder. Present were Ko Bartel, Lee Buller, Lon Buller, Marc Friesen, David Godshall, Kent and Dana Harder, Mike Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Sean Kelly, Ken Lundgren, Robin McDaniel, Bob Ogden, Kent Stutzman and Roger Wilson.
Minutes: June Minutes were accepted with no corrections.
Treasurer's Report: Checking account balance of $700.81, plus $10 donated at Field Day for a new total of $165.00 in petty cash. Paid $62.46 for Field Day food for a total of $638.35. Also $387.00 so far from the Marion Ford, K0YWT, Silent Auction.
Silent Auction: Sold 12 of items at the silent auction to eight bidders, however still have a number of items left so there's the question about what to do with the remaining items. Lee suggested we scrap the tower rather than sell it since we know nothing about the brand and there might be liability issues if it turns out to be faulty. David moved that we make the remaining items available at the next club meeting for purchase by club members, and then whatever is left be taken to the August Salina Hamfest to be sold. Dan seconded and the motion passed.
Field Day: There was agreement that Field Day was very enjoyable. We had a total score of 3618, composed of 596 CW contacts and 492 Phone contacts.
Patches: Dan Inskeep showed some Pueblo Ham Club patches and plaques from about 15 years ago from Pueblo, Colorado. There were also some W.O.P. awards -- Worked All Pueblo.
Bike Rides: September 17 is the MCC Bike Ride and September 24 is the MS Bike Ride. Could use 5-6 operators for each. The MCC one has several routes that start at the MCC Offices in Newton. The MS one starts in Hillsboro and ends in Council Grove. Roger will accept volunteers to help with communications for the MCC ride, someone else is coordinating the MS one.
EOC Radios: Lon has been investigating some audio and interference issues with the HAM Radios at the EOC. Some suggestions were to check the antennas, or try swapping in some different radios temporarily to see if the problem goes away.
ARES: Kent Stutzman has been appointed the new ARES Coordinator for Harvey and Sedgwick Counties. He'd like to encourage participation in the ARES Net, 9pm Mondays and Skywarn, 7:00pm Tuesdays on 82. RACES is 8:30pm Mondays on 61. Kent also noticed that Ron Farthing is currently listed as the contact for the 61 repeater, so the Secretary will look into changing that to Mike Harvey, Repeater Trustee, or David Godshall, Club Secretary.
Meeting adjourned at 10:34am.
