The June 14, 2008 meeting was held in the Newton Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 9:15am by President Dan Inskeep. Present were David Duerksen, David Godshall, Bob Harder, Kent Harder, Marion Harper, Dan Inskeep, Bob Ogden, Joe Palmer, Kent Stutzman, and Don Unruh.
Minutes: The May Minutes were read and approved with one correction. At the MCC Relief Sale, Aaron Diller was present Saturday morning, not David Duerksen.
Treasurer's Report: No update given.
Ham Radio Week: Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius signed a proclamation that the week of June 22 is Amateur Radio Week.
Field Day: There's no trailer for the CW station this year, so it is unknown which of the regular CW operators will show up. There will be a CW station and, in the words of Bob Harder, "we will still smoke them" on CW. Station setup will begin Friday, June 27 around 5pm and operation begins 1pm Saturday, Central time. The change in the GOTA rules mean we don't know if we will have any operators who will be valid to operate the station; we will try to identify some new people we can try to get to Field Day. We will plan to operate as 2A again this year with two full-time transmitters, plus maybe a 3rd station for PSK and/or GOTA. David will bring food for the club-provided Saturday evening meal. Kansas Representative Carolyn McGinn has been verbally invited to attend, and Lon Buller will be invited to show up (and hopefully persuaded to operate the GOTA station) for bonus points. Dan will plan to bring a solar panel for some natural power contacts.
Building Projects: Dan Inskeep passed around some pages with guidelines on building a coax filter.
New club members: Received membership forms from Don Unruh and Gary Mayfield. Gary requested the ability to use all facets of the repeater; Kent Stutzman reported he had helped Gary earlier use the IRLP functionality. David will send Gary an E-Mail with the IRLP instructions.
Meeting adjourned at 9:57pm.
