The November 17, 2001 meeting was held at Spear's Restaurant in Newton. The meeting was called to order at 9:23am by President Ron Farthing. Present were Lon Buller, Dave Duerksen, Ron Farthing, David Godshall, Bob Harder, Dan Inskeep, Kent Stutzman, and Roger & Dr. J.J. Wilson.
The October minutes were read with a date correction: The October meeting was the 20th, noth the 15th.
Treasurer's Report: No change to balance of $893.80.
Repeater Problem: Kent Stutzman discovered the Newton Police mobile data system is interfering with our repeater. Ron Farthing wondering if our antenna is too close to them. There was also discussion about moving the repeater. The North Newton and Walton grain mill elevators were talked about. Decided to wait until Robin and Lon have a chance to talk to the current mill owners about installing a new antenna mount.
National Weather Service/ARRL Skywarn Recognition Day: Location already has 2m and 440, would like someone to bring HF equipment, and can put up a long wire antenna. Kent submitted the form for our participation and received the W0K callsign for the event. Club members are encouraged to show up between November 30, 6pm (4pm for equipment setup) and December 1, 6pm. Kent will E-Mail club members any additional information as needed.
Club Net: Discussion about moving the club net to a different time or day of the week. Roger made a motion to move it to 7:30pm Sunday, Dan seconded. Motion passed.
Severe Weather: Lon reported that March 13, 2002 is the tentative date for Skywarn meeting. Some are predicting a harder winter than normal, and the terrorism angle is a complete unknown, so just be prepared.
Repeater Trustee: Bob Harder had nothing to report, but reminded everyone about the November Sweepstakes this weekend.
Election Nominations: Ron called for nominations for officers. Dan Inskeep nominated Kent Harder for president. Roger Wilson nominated Lon Buller for Vice President, and David Godshall nominated Kent Stutzman for Vice-President. David Godshall was nominated Secretary Treasurer. Ron announced that elections will be held immediately, and after the shock and arguments died down the following officers were elected: Kent Harder, President; Kent Stutzman, Vice-President; David Godshall, Secretary/Treasurer.
