The October 20, 2007 meeting was held in the Newton Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 9:18am by President Mike Harvey. Present were David Godshall, Bob Harder, Marion Harper, Mike Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Bob Ogden, and Kent Stutzman.
Minutes: The September Minutes were read and approved.
Repeater: Backup power has been purchased and installed, it shoudl give us about 5 hours of runtime with amplifier in the event of a power outtage. Mike submitted a receipt for the powergate and powerpole as well as the cost of the batteries. Dan moved that the Treasurer issue Mike a check for all the purchases, totalling $367.85. Bob seconded the motion and it passed by acclaimation.
Jamboree On The Air: Kent Stutzman and Mike set up a tent and equipment at the Newton Airport for the Boy Scout's Jamboree On The Air. They will be there through Sunday.
Texas QSO Party: Bob and Lorna went out on a Friday night, staying the night Guymon, then working the northern counties of the Texas panhandle, clockwise. About 5 counties and two hours away from the end, the van wouldn't start. A flatbed-style tow truck came out and Bob was able to work another county or two before the deadline by operating from the van while riding on the towtruck on the way to the repair shop.
Hesston Tornado: Kent Stutzman is putting a website together with information on the 1990 Tornado that hit Hesston. He's gathering whatever information he can get on the event and amateur radio's involvement.
