The September 15, 2007 meeting was held in the Newton Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 9:12am by President Mike Harvey. Present were Fred Becker, Lee Buller, Lon Buller, David Godshall, Bob Harder, Mike Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Bob Ogden, and guest Kent Harder.
Minutes: The August Minutes were read and approved.
Treasurer's Report: There is $614.98 in the checking account, $40 if petty cash, for a total of $654.98.
Repeater Backup Power: Mike did some investigating, said a pair of golf cart batteries were recommended to him, probably cost $80-120 apiece. He also found a PWRgate unit, which costs about $130, which could be used to charge and regulate the batteries. There was agreement that whatever system we use, it needs to actively use the batteries in order to keep them in peak operating condition. Ideally it would be nice to get two hours of usage off batteries. Lon said Emergency Management might be able to pick up some of the cost. Dan made a motion the we authorize Mike Harvey to purchase two batteries, the PWRgate, a low current circuit shutdown relay, and possibly a surge suppressor if the county doesn't already have it, as well as work with Lon on what his office can purchase. Lee seconded. Motion pass unanimously.
IRLP: Mike asked who was using IRLP and gave some review information on how to use it. Lee asked for another E-Mail with access information. There's a sub-audible tone, 156.7, that needs to be enabled on the radio. There was an idea of setting up a Western Kansas Weather net through IRLP and a reflector.
Boy Scout Jamboree: Coming up soon. Mike was hoping Roger Jost would be here to give some information.
Texas QSO Party: Bob is planning on doing the Texas QSO Party end of September.
