The September 16, 2008 meeting was held in the Newton Public Library.  The meeting was called to order at 7:09pm by President Dan Inskeep.  Present were Aaron Diller, David Duerksen, David Godshall, Michael Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Bob Ogden, Dennis Perry, Don and Janet Smith, Kent Stutzman.

Minutes: The August Minutes were read and approved.

Treasurer's Report: No change.  The checking account balance is $551.13, with $25 in petty cash, for a total of $576.13.

Meeting Time/Location:  This was the first meeting at the new date/time -- Tuesday, September 16, 7pm.

Emergency Communication Center: The coax to the HF antenna has completely disconnected, so some tower work is needed to replace the coax.  Dan also wants to shorten the antenna.

RACES: Kent has resigned his position as Harvey County RACES coordinator to pursue other interests.

Repeater: Michael Harvey purchased some batteries about a year ago and submitted the receipt to the Treasurer for his records.

MCC Flatlanders Bike Ride: David gave information about the event this Saturday, September 20th, and passed around a route map and gave information about the ride.  Club members able to help will meet at the Newton MCC center in North Newton, which is the starting/ending line, prior to the 8am starting time.  The event should be over before 4pm; Dan said in the past it's been over by around 2:30pm.  There will be 5 SAG stations which we have been asked to man, plus the start/finish line.

Jamboree: Michael Harvey brought up the Boy Scout Jamboree that's coming up a weekend in the middle of October.  He's not sure if he will be able to participate this year but brought the event up for club members' consideration.

IRLP: There are some listen-only nets you can dial in through IRLP when hurricanes are active. 9508 is one of the nodes.

Guests: Don, KC0ZYP, and Janet Smith came by for a visit and wanted to thank us for helping them get started.  Don is now Butler County ARES Emergency Coordinator and a member of the Flint Hills Amateur Radio Club.

QRP CW: Mike is participating in a QRP CW straight-key contest throughout the month of October.  Sponsored by the NAQCC/NACC radio groups.  He showed off a nice sturdy case he bought to house and organize his K2 radio and all the peripherals which he's taking with him to use on a camping trip he and his family are going on in October.

Meeting adjourned at 8:12pm.
